The Composite Volcano (also known as a stratovolcano) is built up of many layers including hardened lava, tephra, prumice and ash. Unlike the shield volcanoes, Composite volcanoes are known for their steepness. Composite volcanoes are among some of the most common volcanoes on this earth. They are simply formed by the build up of those many different layers. Composite volcanoes reach up to impress snow peaked heights which often exceed 2,500 meters in height.
Examples of Composite Volcanoes.
Mount Kenya is the second highest mountain in Africa following after Mount Kilimanjaro. It has a height of 5,199 meters high. Mount Kenya is located in central Kenya. The 11 small glaciers are a main source of water for the majority of Kenya.
